Authorities say a 28-year-old woman was slashed by a man asking for directions at a Throgs Neck Target Thursday afternoon.

They say the woman was approached by the man, who she didn't know, around 2:30 p.m. When the woman turned her head and pointed to give the suspect directions, he cut her in the face and fled the scene.

EMS took the woman to a nearby hospital for treatment. News 12 is told she received multiple stitches.

The man police are looking for is about 30 to 40 years old and approximately 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a checkered, button-up shirt and a baseball hat.
