FARMINGVILLE -

Police say a teenage boy was stabbed outside a home in Farmingville.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. on Berkshire Drive.

Police say the boy was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injures that were not considered life-threatening.

News 12 spoke with a friend of the victim who says he witnessed the crime and asked to remain anonymous. He says they went to meet a third teen to buy a vape pen from him for $200. He says the assailant demanded more money, something fell to the ground and the victim was stabbed in the back as he went to pick it up.

Residents were shocked to hear of a stabbing in what they say is a quiet neighborhood.

Police at this point have not identified a suspect.
