WYANDANCH -

Police say a sanitation worker found a body Thursday morning on the side of a Wyandanch road.

Homicide detectives were on the scene for hours, in a wooded area at the end of Spruce Street. A K-9 unit was brought in to scour the area for possible evidence.

Police have released few details but say the body appears to be that of an adult black male with some head trauma.

Keenan Jones is the sanitation worker who found the body just after 7 a.m. He says he was shocked by the discovery and called police.

Police ask anyone with information to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
