Man wanted for spraying clerk with mace during Elmont robbery

Police are searching for the man behind a violent robbery in Elmont.

Detectives say a man in red sweatpants walked into Alzaeem Convenience on Elmont Road just before 5 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police, the man demanded the clerk hand over cash, then sprayed him with mace when he refused.

The subject then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction, police say.

The victim was treated for his injuries at the scene.
