A Bronx-based group is expected to receive reaction from the Arab and Muslim world when it announces it's calling for a boycott.
The Bronx-based New York Peace Coalition is calling for the boycott of Saudi Arabia and Iran, but also the endorsement of Israel.
Sheikh Musa Drammeh, the founding chair of the coalition, wants all Muslims to boycott the two Mideast rival countries. Drammeh is also asking for the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation for the endorsement of Israel.
The OIC is made up of 57 countries and is the second largest inter-governmental organization after the United Nations. It's mostly made up of Muslim majority nations.
Drammeh says if the nations can't put an end to their troubled past themselves, then Muslims should temporarily halt any travel, investments or other economic interests to the two countries. He also wants the OIC to endorse Israel and welcome its membership to the group.
"The Muslim world should not be enemies to the Jewish people and the Jewish state," says Drammeh. "At the same time, the Palestinians cannot continue to suffer because we use their problems as a political toy."
The announcement will be made June 14 during an interfaith congregational prayer in front of the United Nations in Manhattan. The final declaration will be delivered to the OIC in Saudi Arabia once 1 million signatures have been gathered.
