DNA expert Matthew Benintendo from the medical examiner's office testified Thursday that defendant Elvin Garcia's blood was found in two separate cars – one of which also contained the blood of Lesandro “Junior” Guzman Feliz.
During opening statements, prosecutors said Garcia, one of five suspected Trinitarios gang members charged with first-degree murder, was cut by another gang member while they were both stabbing Junior in front of a bodega in Belmont last summer.
After he was arrested, Garcia was walked out of the 48th Precinct with a wrap on his hand.
According to Benintendo's testimony, no DNA from other defendants was found on any evidence. Benintendo says there was insufficient DNA on blades and knives provided to the medical examiner so they could not link those weapons to suspects.
One of those suspects is Joniaki Martinez Estrella, who is accused of cutting Junior's jugular.
Witness testimony in the case resumes Friday.
