Police: Person in custody in deadly Midwood stabbing; mother charged

A woman has been charged with tampering evidence in connection with the fatal stabbing of a teen in Midwood, and police say more charges may be soon be filed against her son.

A woman has been charged with tampering evidence in connection with the fatal stabbing of a teen in Midwood, and police say more charges may be soon be filed against her son.
Rohan Burke's parents, Kevin Burke and Tracey Beckles, told News 12 that he told them he was going to a park with friends. An hour later, they got word that he had been stabbed.
Witnesses say he was attacked by two or three people – one of them pulling out a knife and stabbing him in the chest.
Police say he ran into a pizza shop near the corner of Avenue M and East 17th Street, screaming for help. By the time his parents got to the hospital, it was too late.
Police say Barbara Galloza, 38, has been charged with tampering evidence and hindering prosecution. News 12 is told she is the mother of a person they have in custody, who may soon face charges.
Police say the mother and son came to the 70th Precinct to surrender Tuesday evening.
