A young Bronx man is leaving the boogie down and heading to California this summer for an internship with Google.
Joel Castro, 20, is a future Notre Dame grad who hopes to be an inspiration one day.
"So, I’m working as a software engineer, so building programs that will affect millions,” says Castro.

This summer, Casto will be an intern at Google as a musician and software engineer.

Castro, who is originally from the Dominican Republic, said he initially wanted to be a barber.
He says he owes the change from barber to engineer to a mentor from his parish.

Castro says he's planning to document his summer at Google as a Latino from the borough while working with Google’s YouTube team.

"We have to work twice as a hard as other people to get somewhere just because we are from the Bronx, and there are so many obstacles,” says Castro.

Castro hopes the opportunity will land him a job at Google.

"I wanted to come back and tell them this is what is possible in the world this is what you can do you need to break these bad habits so you can go forward,” says Castro.
