Wake services held for fallen Marine from Long Island

Sgt. Robert Hendriks and two other Marines were killed by a roadside bomb earlier this month.

Wake services were held Tuesday for a Marine from Locust Valley killed in a roadside bombing in Afghanistan earlier this month.
Services for Sgt. Robert Hendriks, 25, took place at Whitting Funeral Home in Glen Head. Hendriks will be buried Wednesday with full military honors at Calverton National Cemetery.
Two other Marines were killed in the Afghanistan bombing.
The body of Staff Sgt. Christopher Slutman, who was also a decorated New York City firefighter, is back home in the Bronx. His casket was transported Monday from Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to New York. Slutman's funeral Mass will be held Friday at St. Thomas Church in Manhattan.
