MTA riders to experience fare hikes starting on Easter

Another MTA fare hike is expected to take place Sunday.
The cost of a single ride will continue to be $2.75 but many of the longer passes will be increasing.
A monthly unlimited MetroCard will cost an extra $6, going from $121 to $127.
A seven-day unlimited pass will be going up by a dollar.
The unlimited reduced fare card will also be increasing with the monthly costing commuters an extra $3 and the seven-day an extra 50 cents.
Fares for an express bus will also see a 25 cent hike while a 7-day express bus pass will now cost $62.
The MTA is also eliminating the 5 percent bonus they included when riders added more than $5.50 to their MetroCards.
Commuters told News 12 that they are unhappy with the changes.
Riders can still get passes for the current price before Sunday and they will be honored as long as they are activated by the end of the month.
