Police: Woman approached from behind, robbed of phone in subway station
Police say a woman traveling through the Lorimer Street subway station in Williamsburg was approached from behind and robbed of her phone last week.
Police have released video of a man who they say approached the 43-year-old woman, placed an unknown object that appears to be a gun in her back and snatched her iPhone XR. The man then fled the train station toward Leonard Street.
The incident occurred last Monday as the woman was walking down the stairs toward the J train.
Police say the suspect is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark jacket and pants with white stripes, white Nike sneakers and a silver chain.
They say the woman was not injured during the robbery.
Police are asking anyone who recognizes the man or has information about the incident to contact them.
