Super Bowl bet-losing brother forced to dress as clown; play the kazoo

To quote Joey Tribbiani from the TV classic “Friends,” “You bet on a bet and if you lose, you lose the bet.”
That saying couldn’t be truer for a New Jersey man who lost a bet he made with his brother about the Super Bowl. He was forced to humiliate himself Thursday at the Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus.
“Well, I hate him. It’s very simple. I hate him,” says Marc Applebaum.
The Applebaum brothers say that they have always been close and have been making bets since they were kids.
“I bet against Tom Brady. I deserve everything I’m getting,” says Stephen Applebaum.
The consequence? To walk around the mall’s food court dressed like a clown and playing the kazoo for unsuspecting shoppers.
“That was the basic objective. To cause as much dislocation and social stress as we could for the other,” says Marc.
“I want it to be noted that I’m paying my debt. Not like my brother...he owes me a million dollars,” says Stephen.
But last year when Marc lost the bet he also had to dress like a clown and go outside Hackensack City hall.
The brothers say that it is all in good fun and that they plan to continue the tradition for years to come.
