Owl smashes through glass window of Bedford kitchen

BEDFORD -

Some police officers in Bedford made an unusual rescue on Tuesday.

Police say a barred owl smashed through the glass window of a kitchen in a home on Pines Bridge Road. The owl wound up in the kitchen sink, along with a lot of broken glass.

Officers on scene were able to safely get the uninjured animal out of the residence through the same window it had flown through.

Barred owls can sometimes be seen hunting before dark even though they have large eyes, which allows for better night vision.
