13 displaced after 4-alarm fire erupts at Cypress Hills homes
Over a dozen people in Cypress Hills are displaced after a four-alarm fire ripped through their home.
Fire officials say it started around 7 p.m. Monday on Schenck Avenue.
About 170 firefighters and emergency personnel quickly responded to the scene. Officials say seven people, including six firefighters were hurt but News 12 is told all the injuries were minor.
The assistant fire chief says they were able to quickly get it under control despite challenges with the extremely cold weather.
The fire caused damage to two homes. IIt also caused the roof to cave in and extensive damage to the windows.
Fire officials say 13 people were displaced and the Red Cross is assisting them.
Investigators are working to figure out how the fire started.
