Boogie Down Bites: Tortoise & Hare

Two local bartenders teamed up and opened their own bar just steps from Van Cortlandt Park.
Tortoise & Hare features an excellent brunch and pays homage to the world class cross country track across the street.

Christopher Vega and Anthony Darcy took their skills from behind the bar to behind the grill when they opened their restaurant.
The pair bartended at a local bar for years until they decided to run their own place.
The name comes from the statue right across the street at Van Cortlandt Park.

“It's been there long before us, so we thought it was a perfect name for a pub in that location,” says Darcy.

With no target audience, they make food for all, putting their own twist on classic dishes like shepherd’s pie.
