Commuters confused as Fair Fare program has yet to kick in

New York commuters are frustrated over the delay of the Fair Fare program.
Six months ago, city officials announced the initiative that is supposed to offer half-priced MetroCards to those living below the poverty level.
Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Council members agreed to dedicate $106 million of the city budget to pay the MTA the difference.
However, few details have been released about who is eligible and how they can apply since it was announced.
"I haven't seen one flyer, one poster, I don't know what the application looks like and I can't tell people where to apply," said Danna Dennis, organizer of the Riders Alliance Community.
Transportation advocates say they also don’t know if the discounted rate will be applied to single-ride MetroCards after reports surfaced that the MTA would only include seven and 30-day passes in the program.
The mayor hinted that Fair Fares will be rolled out in phases "soon."
News 12 reached out to the mayor's office for more details but has not heard back.
