Suspected killer of off-duty firefighter extradited to NYC
The suspect accused of assaulting and killing an off-duty firefighter was extradited to New York City Tuesday for questioning.
Joseph Desmond is charged with murder for the death of 33-year-old FDNY firefighter Faizal Coto. Police say Coto’s car collided with Desmond’s on Dec. 9. They say the two pulled over to argue and then the suspect fled the scene. Investigators say Coto was found near his car at the scene with a blunt force trauma to his head. He was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital.

Desmond was arrested last week in New Jersey on a parole violation and waived his extradition on Friday.
