Residents in Dyker Heights have been complaining on local Facebook pages about garbage left on the streets from hundreds of tourists viewing Christmas displays.
Local organization Fight Back Bay Ridge says they organized a community cleanup in Dyker Heights last Saturday.
Residents say the light displays have become a lot more popular in recent years. Walking tours and bus tours are held during the holiday season.
They also say people that come to visit the lights forget Dyker Heights is also a residential neighborhood.
Volunteers collected bags of trash and recyclables from the streets, gutters and stairs.
Fight Back Bay Ridge says more cleanup sessions are scheduled for the near future.
