The mother of a 6-year-old girl told News 12 Wednesday that she thought her daughter was killed when she was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Soundview.
The incident occurred Tuesday night at the intersection of East 172nd Street and Harrod Avenue.
“Kadiatou” did not want to speak in front of the News 12 camera, but explained her feeling of horror after her daughter was hit.
“I saw him and I yelled…‘he killed my daughter, my daughter, help me people, stop him,’” she said.
Kadiatou told News 12 that the incident occurred after she had double parked. She says the vehicle stopped, but then fled the scene.
Her daughter survived, but suffered facial trauma. The 6-year-old is still in the hospital and may require surgery.
News 12 has obtained video of a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee that is believed by police to be involved in the crash.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
