Cranford postal worker discovers 2 potential scam attempts

A 25-year veteran of the Cranford post office helped uncover two potential scams targeting the elderly.
Jennifer Goodwin says in October she noticed a woman who she had never seen before coming in and mailing envelopes with little amounts of cash in them.
"I'd ask her what's in there and she'd say, 'Oh it's just a little money for my friend' and it just kept happening and kind of got my suspicions up," Goodwin said.
She says another woman came to the office and claimed she was mailing brownies to her grandson, but she also saw money in her envelope.
Goodwin then contacted Cranford police, and they are now investigating two scam cases targeting elderly individuals.
She says the alleged scam artists would tell the victims to send a little money at a time to buy a car or go on a trip.
Post office officials say they want older residents and caretakers to be aware of these types of scams.
Anyone who suspects they are a victim of mail fraud can report it to the Postal Service.
