Brooklyn woman is a 'holiday angel' with gift-giving project

During the season of giving, a Brooklyn woman is helping families in need by organizing what she calls the Holiday Angel Project.
Gina Argano says she feels an obligation to help make the holidays brighter. Her obligation led her to create the Holiday Angel Project on her own.
The project works alongside case workers from Camba, and organization that helps families and individuals across the state through various programs.
"I have the case workers go to the homes where they have the children write down exactly what they want for the holidays, then those case workers bring those letters to me," says Argano.
Argano says thousands of people reached out to help after just one social media post. She assigned each person a letter and a due date for the person to buy and wrap the gift. Argano then labels the gifts and stores thousands of them in her house for months.
On Friday alone, more than 400 families received Christmas gifts.
"We want to give back to our families, we want to show them that we're here to support them and help offset costs in this Christmas season of course," says Camba assistant program manager Venetta Vanhorne."So this is a huge burden that has been lifted for most of the families that we do serve."
The event is not over yet -- more gifts will be given out on Dec. 14 and 21.
