Stew Leonard’s in East Meadow is showing it is the big cheese when it comes to Long Island supermarkets.

Sarah “The Cheese Lady” Kaufmann was at the East Meadow grocer Friday to carve a 4,000-pound block of cheddar cheese into “Stew Leonard’s Rock of Commitment.” It’s an attempt to break the current world record for largest cheese statue.

The cheese will be weighed Saturday to certify if a new record has been set.

The carvings were used to make free grilled cheese sandwiches for Stew Leonard's shoppers.
