Mechanical robot helps end armed standoff in Sussex County

A standoff in Hopatcong ended with a man in custody after reports he threatened to shoot someone at a home with a stolen handgun.
The incident happened Tuesday around 7:55 p.m. at a home on Lakeside Boulevard.
When officers arrived, Robert Collins refused to come out or speak with them.
Police say a mechanical robot was sent in to make contact with Collins, and he responded by striking it multiple times with a pry bar.
After seven hours, he finally agreed to come out, and was taken into custody.
Collins has been charged with terroristic threats and weapon charges.
He is being kept at the Sussex County Jail.
