Recess revived: New PS 23 playground is a hit

Recess is back and better than ever at P.S. 23 in Belmont.
The school recently built a sleek and modern playground to replace outdated swingsets that were considered by some to be a safety hazard.
The new $475,000 playground was funded through the participatory budget, where the community had a vote on where to spend millions of dollars in their neighborhood.
Councilman Ritchie Torres says the elementary school students were able to persuade people throughout the district. He says the project received 1,200 votes out of 3,000 ballots.
