There was no shortage of hot topics on the minds of Long Islanders as they went to the polls this Election Day.
According to a News 12 Long Island social media poll, 31 percent of participants said the economy and jobs were the most important issues to them leading up to the elections. Immigration and health care were close behind, coming within 5 percent of each other.
Gun control rounds out the top four issues.
There's something else of which many Long Islanders say they want to see more in their public officials, and it has nothing to do with politics.
"Tolerance for one another," says Ann Lala, of Huntington Bay.
Taxes and gang violence were also issues on voters' minds.
