Nyack MS student says man tried to lure her into car

Parents are on high alert after a Nyack Middle School student says a man tried to lure her into his car.
South Nyack Grandview police say the incident happened this past Thursday as the student was walking alone to school.
They say she was on Route 9W near the intersection of South Highland Avenue when she says a light gray Jeep Grand Cherokee approached her. She says the driver told her to "get in the car."
The student ran from the vehicle toward the school and then reported the incident a day later.
Nyack public schools notified parents on Friday through an email and a letter sent home about the incident.
The man is described as middle-aged, white, well-groomed and balding. He was last seen driving southbound in Route 9W.
School officials and police are now asking parents to discuss predatory luring techniques, like asking for assistance, lost pets or faking an emergency about a family member.

Police say this is the first incident of its kind reported this year. They are increasing their presence at drop-off and dismissal time.
