Firefighters: Clutter made fighting apartment complex fire difficult

Officials say clutter made fighting a fire difficult at an Eastchester apartment complex.
The flames erupted at a fifth-floor apartment at 235 Garth Road around 11:30 a.m. Monday.
Four fire departments were on the scene to battle the fire at the Ardsley wing of the Garth Woods Cooperative complex.
Firefighters say that the clutter fueled the blaze and made it difficult to battle the blaze.
Bill Kirby, who lives on the same floor as the burning apartment, says the man who lives in that apartment seemed to be fine.
"He seemed to be breathing, he seemed to be waving to everybody,” said Kirby.

Some other apartments sustained smoke and water damage.
