The United Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford held a forum Monday night for the candidates running for governor and lieutenant governor.
The midterm elections are just a month away.
Not every candidate attended the forum, but there was representation from all three parties.
Democratic candidate Ned Lamont, Republican Mark Shiffrin from the Stefanowski campaign and Independent Oz Griebel's running mate Monte Frank discussed a range of topics.
"I would submit that we have all in this room seen people leaving the state because of the economy – because of taxation, because of their concern about a state taxation," Shiffrin said.
From the state budget and gun control to women's reproductive rights and taxes, each candidate had plenty to say.
"I think it's a fraud if someone tells you they're going to eliminate the income tax and the corporate income tax and all these other taxes that would represent $10, $11, $12 billion out of our budget," says Lamont.
"The notion that we're going to eliminate the income tax and take $10 billion out of a $20 billion budget is ludicrous," lieutenant governor candidate Monte Frank said. "If you believe that I have a couple bridges I want to sell you."
