No, it's not election's we're talking about.
Early social media buzz about Tom Hardy's 'Venom' is...not great. Several harsh comments started floating around Twitter following early screenings of the new anti-hero flick.
#Venom is Catwoman level bad, with Tom Hardy's worst performance since This Means War.— Daniel R (@DanielRPK) October 2, 2018
DON'T SEE THE MOVIE!
However, fans have some theories about these reviews - specifically, that Lady Gaga followers are intentionally flooding Twitter with the bad reviews so that 'A Star is Born' wins the weekend box office.
I was really believing most of these bad #venom reviews until I kept seeing duplicate tweets and others just ~casually~ mentioning that "their pick for oct. 5 is a star is born" , guess I'll just have to see it for myself; can't trust y'all anymore.— lety&ale (@doritohemm0) October 2, 2018
Gaga fans tweet-bombing Venom by giving bad reviews are acting like A Star is Born isn't just gonna win the box office anyway— Jordan Schmidt (basically Frankenstein) (@TallGuySchmidt) October 2, 2018
Both movies open Oct. 5.
