Stamford police are continuing their investigation into the death of 16-year-old Marcus Hall, who they say was taken off life support this weekend after being shot Thursday night.
Police say Hall, a Westhill High School student, lived at the Southwood Square apartment complex where he was gunned down.
Officers responded to Pequot Drive last Thursday and found Hall lying on the ground with two gunshot wounds, including one to the head. Police say he was close to the shooter at the time of the incident.
Authorities have not released a motive or suspect description.
"It's a very emotionally charged time for them to have their son taken from you in that kind of manner, anyone would be devastated," says Capt. Tom Barcello.
This is the second deadly shooting on the city's West Side within the past few months. Antonio Robinson, 18, was killed at the end of May.
Police say these two incidents are not connected.
Dozens of people, including Westhill High School's principal, rallied at Jackie Robinson Park Sunday and called for an end to the violence.
"This isn't a student who tragically died because he was ill. This is a student who died very violently. This is a student who was murdered. That's a big deal for kids. It's a big deal for staff so we need to come together, continue to come together, to help us all process this going forward," says Westhill High School principal Mike Rinaldi.
Hall's death marks the third homicide this year in Stamford.
