A Suffolk County chiropractor is accused of drunken driving in a crash that killed his passenger.
Police say 45-year-old Scott Brunengraber hit a parked car and eventually stopped just after 3 a.m. Monday on Ingrid Court in Hauppauge. They say Brunengraber was drunk and that a man in the car was seriously injured. The passenger was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police have identified that passenger as Wu Wang, 40, of Flushing.
Police say the initial accident happened along Terry Road near Washington Avenue. Residents about a half-mile away from Ingrid Court say they awoke to the sound of the crash.
There was no answer at Brunengraber's Hauppauge home, and his social media accounts indicate he is the owner of a chiropractic practice in Smithtown. Employees there were too distraught to speak on camera but only had praise for the doctor.
Brunengraber was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless endangerment. He was expected to be arraigned on Tuesday.
