Hostos honors students who helped rebuild Puerto Rico

Hostos Community College on Thursday honored the students who spent part of their summer helping to rebuild Puerto Rico after the devastating Hurricane Maria.
More than 2,000 CUNY students applied for the chance to help, and only 200 were selected to go to the island with SUNY students and volunteers.
Once there, they repaired and replaced roofs, windows and doors, in addition to sanitizing and removing mold from homes.
The work was part of the CUNY Service Corps – Puerto Rico effort and Gov. Andrew Cuomo's NY Stands with Puerto Rico Recovery and Rebuilding Initiative.
Organizers say they're planning on another trip to Puerto Rico.
