Body found at site of Brooklyn wall collapse

Authorities have confirmed that the Bronx man who was trapped after a construction site wall collapse Wednesday in the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn has been found dead.
Authorities identified the deceased as 47-year-old Luis Almonte.
Crews initially began a rescue operation, but that changed to a recovery mission once they said there seemed to be no signs of life in the construction pit. The effort was suspended Wednesday night due to the rain and fears the wall could further collapse but resumed on Thursday.
The Department of Buildings used a drone to survey the scene from the air. Inspectors and structural engineers were back at the site Thursday, assessing the damage.
The cause of the collapse is not yet known.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is determining whether there were issues regarding workplace safety when the collapse happened.
NOTE: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the deceased man. It has since been corrected.
