Some Stratford parents say they weren't notified about a school bus route that was cut.
For years, there was a bus stop at Porter Street and Broadbridge Avenue for children going to Second Hill Lane Elementary School.
But on Monday, a parent called the Stratford Board of Education to get information about her neighborhood bus route and learned there was no more school bus for their kids. The parent says a secretary answered and said their house was within 1 1/2 miles from the school and that the bus has been canceled.
Parents say they're now scrambling to make other arrangements a week before school starts.
"By policy, bus service is provided for those living beyond 1.5 miles for elementary students and beyond 2 miles for secondary students," the school superintendent said in a statement.
She added that bus schedules should be posted online by Friday.
