This year's NYPD Explorers class received their graduating certificates Wednesday.

It's the same program Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz was a part of in his pursuit to become a NYPD detective.

Several college scholarships were handed out in memory of the Bronx teenager who was fatally stabbed in June outside a Belmont bodega.

Junior's mom believes her son is smiling down on the graduating class.

Two Explorers were awarded $5,000 from the New York City Police Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises money for neighborhood policing initiatives.

Both scholarship recipients who will be attending college this fall say they want to pursue a career in law enforcement to improve safety in their community.

In addition to the two scholarship winners, four members of the NYPD Explorers program were given $1,000 each in scholarship money.
