Part of Prospect-Lefferts Gardens named BK's 'Greenest Block'

A section of Prospect-Lefferts Gardens has won the Brooklyn Botanical Garden's "Greenest Block in Brooklyn" contest for this year.
The winning spot is Lefferts Avenue between Bedford and Rogers avenues.
The competition promotes city greening, streescape gardening, community building and more.
Residents say they're going to use the $300 they won to purchase tree guards to protect against animal droppings.
More than 150 blocks from 30 neighborhoods participated in this year's contest.
