Precincts hold event after wave of youth, gang-related deaths

Local police precincts in Brooklyn held a “Harmony Day” event Thursday after three teens were killed in a wave of what investigators believe to be gang-related violence.
The 73rd and 75th precincts hosted the event at the Brownsville Recreational Playground on Linden Boulevard.
The event featured free lunch to attendants, a rock-climbing wall, bounce house and face painting.
Police with Brooklyn North say the event was organized in an effort to keep the kids in the community safe but to also allow them to get to know officers in the community.
The event follows a series of violence, including a 16-year-old fatally shot at the Bushwick Houses earlier this week, a 15-year-old boy fatally shot last week in East New York and another teen fatally stabbed.
Police believe the killings are gang-related.
All of the suspects connected to the three separate killings have been arrested and charged, police say.
