A Seaford man was found to have illegal assault rifles inside his home where children live, police say.
Officers responded to 27-year-old Frankie Valenti's home on Narragansett Avenue for an unrelated disturbance call. Upon arrival, police say they found three illegal assault rifles inside. Court documents state that there were also nine loaded handguns found in different rooms and were accessible to his 2-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter.
The handguns were all legal, according to a police spokesperson.
Neighbors appeared surprised by the allegations.
"That's shocking," says Frank Caporaso, who lives two houses away. "If he had guns like that, you're asking for trouble...He didn't strike me as someone who'd own a gun."
Caporaso describes Valenti as a good neighbor and family man.
No one from inside Valenti's house would speak with News 12.
Valenti faces weapons charges and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. A judge set his bond at $25,000.
