Fans turn out to watch World Cup final

Connecticut soccer fans gathered Sunday to watch Croatia and France face off in the highest-scoring World Cup final since 1966.
Supporters of France said the victory was a great way to continue the celebration, just a day after France's Independence Day, formally known as Bastille Day.
A prolific game gave way to France when two goals were scored in the 59th minute – but the warning signs were there. Croatia's Mario Mandzukic inadvertently headed the ball into his own net in the 18th minute.
France’s 4-2 win marked France's second World Cup title in 20 years.
News 12 Connecticut visited Downtown Stamford for a taste of some of the victory celebrations at restaurants and bars in the area. Not only were there crowds of people cheering on France, but there were a handful of people with deep roots in the country itself.
"My mother is from Paris and south of France, and I grew up here in Stamford,” said one fan. “I got my whole family in France rooting for the World Cup final here."
