A new proposal to give food trucks restaurant-like grades is causing some controversy.

According to the plan, city Department of Health officials would put a location-sharing device in each of the trucks.

Proponents argue it would help health inspectors find food trucks and make sure they're not selling food that would make people sick.

Opponents say it's just another way to track and target immigrants, citing a high number of immigrant workers who make a living from working in food trucks.

"The fact that someone could find where they work makes them especially vulnerable to immigration enforcement," says Matthew Shapiro, of Street Vendor Project.

Some vendors on White Plains Road in the Bronx told News 12 they didn't want to comment on the proposal because they'd need to get permission from a supervisor who wasn't present.
