A fast-moving fire in Bayonne left a woman dead and three firefighters with minor injuries, according to the fire chief.
The fire began just after 1:30 a.m. and ripped through a number of buildings.
A News 12 New Jersey viewer sent in video of the scene near 36th Street on Broadway Avenue.
At that corner are buildings that house businesses and residences.
The Bayonne Office of Emergency Management is telling residents to avoid the area and to close windows, as there is a lot of smoke.
The fire chief says 16 residents were displaced.
The firefighters were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The woman is believed to be in her 40s.
A resident says some smoke alarms did work but she believes others did not.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
