New Jersey commuters who use mass transit say that they have become frustrated by constant delays due to the installation of the positive train control safety feature.
New Jersey Transit made changes to train schedules this summer in order to install the system and now PATH riders say that they have begun to notice delays as well.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has been posting updates and information on social media in order to alert riders.
A spokesperson for the agency says that there have been service delays and extra crowds for the last two weeks due to the implementation of the PTC system. The lines affected most by the delays are the Newark to World Trade Center line and the Journal Square to 33rd Street line.
Riders say that they are trying to be understanding of the delays, but say that they are still a hassle while trying to commute to and from New York City for work.
The Port Authority says that conditions should improve by next week due to new software being installed to help. The agency says on Twitter that crews are working as fast as possible.
PATH does expect to meet the December 2018 federal deadline for PTC installation.
