Consumer Alert: Instructions on updating privacy settings

<p>Step-by-step instructions on how to update your privacy settings for Amazon, Apple, Google, Facebook and Twitter.</p>

Step-by-step instructions on how to update your privacy settings:
Amazon:
Alexa: From the mobile app, click on Settings/History to review and delete recordings of your conversations (they will still be recorded in the future). To put restrictions on who can make purchases, go to “Voice Purchasing” and add a voice code or turn it off.
Shopping: Click on “Browsing History” to see if Amazon is tracking every product you’ve searched. If so, you can delete individual products or click on “Manage History” to delete all items or turn tracking off. CLICK HERE  
Apple:
Ad Tracking: To avoid targeted ads based on your history, go to Setting/Privacy/Advertising and switch on Limit Ad Tracking.
Facebook:
Privacy: Go to Settings/Privacy to adjust your privacy settings. Make sure you’re comfortable with who can see your personal information and your posts. CLICK HERE
Timeline/Tagging: Consider turning on the option for “review posts you’re tagged in before the post appears on your timeline”.
Ads: Remove “interests” you don’t want advertisers to see (they will still be collected in the future). For more privacy, make “Your Information” (employer, education, etc.) off limits to advertisers, turn off “Ads based on data from partners”, and “Ads based on your activity on Facebook Company Products” and choose “No One” for “Ads that include your social actions”.
Google:
Search History: Google remembers all searches, including videos searched for on YouTube. You can delete these through your account settings. CLICK HERE
Google Maps:  Google keeps a history of everywhere you’ve been, which it uses that to give you travel suggestions. You can turn off Location History from your account settings.
Ad Tracking: To avoid targeted ads based on your history, CLICK HERE
Twitter:
You can access your Privacy and safety page HERE
To protect all your tweets, go to the Tweet Privacy section and check “Protect my Tweets”. People who wish to follow your account will have to ask your permission. To unprotect all your tweets, follow the same process in reverse, There is no way to protect or unprotect individual tweets.
Ad Tracking: To avoid targeted ads based on your history, go to Personalization and Data and turn “Personalize Ads” off.
