Ex-New Haven public defender dies while hiking Adirondack trail

A former New Haven chief public defender known for taking on difficult cases died while hiking in the Adirondacks.
Thomas Ullmann, 67, was found by New York State Police on Saturday somewhere along the OK Slip Falls Trail.
Ullmann was a well-known public defender who retired from his job last August following a 32-year career with the New Haven Public Defender's Office.
 
No word yet on the cause of death.
