Transportation officials announced Monday construction on the new ferry service coming to Clason Point is on schedule.
The New York City Economic Development Corporation, along with elected officials, made the announcement at Clason Point Park.
Construction of a new pier continues as service is expected to arrive this summer.
Ferry service is slated to be coming to Bronx River Parkway and will make three stops.
Stops include E. 90th Street, E. 34th Street and Pier 11 near Wall Street.
Officials say the new ferry will only take about 20 minutes to get to its first stop.
They say this drastically cuts down the time it would normally take to get there using other forms of transportation.
The Soundview route of NYC Ferry by Hornblower will connect communities in the Bronx and the Upper East Side with job centers in Lower Manhattan.
In total, ferry service around the city will consist of five new routes, in addition to the existing East River Ferry, charging a fare of $2.75, officials say.
The Clason Point ferry is launching less than a year after the ferry launched at the Rockaways in Brooklyn.
