Mom to sue city, DOE over fight that hurt teen daughter

A Brooklyn mother is suing the city and Department of Education for negligence, claiming they should have stopped a brawl on school premises that injured her teenage daughter.
Renee Tenpow is seeking $5.5 million in damages. Video of the February fight appears to show several students and a mother of one of those students assaulting 13-year-old Chyna Tenpow.
The elder Tenpow filed a notice of claim Monday, alleging the school had previous warning that her daughter was in danger and did nothing to stop it or report the threat to police. The notice says the teenager suffered severe physical and psychological injuries and that Tenpow was left unable to work because of how worried she is for her daughter's safety at school.
The mother who was allegedly involved in the brawl has been arrested on charges that include assault. But Tenpow wants police to also arrest the parent who she says is responsible for threatening her daughter.
