Communities hit hard by previous nor’easters brace for spring snowstorm

A third winter storm expected to impact New Jersey this month is concerning some state residents who are still cleaning up from two previous nor’easters.
A snowstorm headed toward the Garden State Wednesday could bring several inches of heavy, wet snow. Residents say that they are concerned that the snow could cause power outages and property damage.
New Jersey’s last snowstorm March 7 brought about 2 feet of snow to some parts of the state and knocked out power to over 300,000 utility customers. Many homeowners were still cleaning up from the mess that storm made of their homes.
News 12 New Jersey found Madison resident Mickey Bennett cleaning up the remnants of a tree that fell on his property. He says that he worries about the other trees.
“If we get another [storm] like we did, 8-plus inches and winds, then [another tree] is coming down,” Bennett says. “It’s been fun…I just moved from San Francisco.”
Gov. Phil Murphy has ordered an investigation into how utility companies responded to the previous two storms. It took more than a week to restore power to some homes after the storm on March 2.
JCP&L officials say that electrical contractors and utility crews are already preparing to address potential power outages that may occur during Wednesday’s storm.
