Students took part in national gun violence protests in the South Bronx Wednesday.
As many school students walked out of their classrooms across the country, teens at Cardinal Hayes High School honored the victims of the Parkland County shooting by holding a ceremony outside in the cold, which included 17 minutes of silence
The walkouts are part of a national movement sparked by the deadly mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.
Seventeen empty chairs also sat in the middle of the school’s auditorium representing the number of those killed during last month's the shooting.
Walkouts and gatherings at schools continue across the country as more and more students are urging legislative action against guns, and for school safety in order to prevent further acts of violence.
