An athlete from New Jersey is part of the Jamaican bobsled team at the Winter Olympics.
Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian went to Wayne Valley High School and later ran track at Rider University. She made history Tuesday in South Korea as part of the first women's bobsled team from Jamaica.
Thirty years ago, the Jamaican men's bobsled team made their Olympic debut in Calgary, Alberta. The team was immortalized in the 1993 movie "Cool Runnings."
Fenlator-Victorian raced for the U.S. in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Her mother has European roots and her father is Jamaican. The switch to that country, she says, is all about embracing her background.
The team raced Tuesday and finished in 17th place. They compete again on Wednesday.
