Hempstead man ruled unfit to stand trial for triple murder

A Hempstead man accused in a triple murder has been deemed unfit to stand trial.
Nassau District Attorney Madeline Singas says a judge ruled that Bobby Vanderhall needs psychiatric treatment and is not mentally fit to stand trial.
Vanderhall is accused of killing his mother, his sister and a family friend with a knife and a hammer back in August.
Police say he became enraged when his mom kicked him out of the house.
Vanderhall's attorney told Newsday his client would go to a state psychiatric facility until he is able to stand trial.
